Nancy's 5/5/25 Flower Demonstration with AI

Anyone with a free Google Gmail email account already has access to Google's two most powerful AI platforms, Gemini & NotebookLM.  If you don't have a free Google account just click the link to "create an account".

1. Gemini AI Talks to You About Flower Pictures

Google's Gemini AI is the AI most Google users are familiar with. Google is encouraging all users to replace the old, "Google Assistant" with Google Gemini. 

Whether you have Gemini open on your phone or your computer, down in the "prompt window" click on the big plus sign and then upload a picture image that you want Gemini to comment on.

Privacy Note: Google Gemini allows you to "share" your AI "chats" with others. When you click on a shared chat started by someone else, Google actually creates a private new chat for you so while you can then continue the chat, the person who shared their chat with you can't see your chat.

Add more pictures, one at a time. When you click the big plus icon to add an image to your chat session, you'll notice you can only add one image at a time. You can however add more images, with each "follow-up" question on your chat.

2. NotebookLM AI Talks to You About Flower Videos & PDFs/DOCs with Flower Images

As the "notebook" name implies, Google's NotebookLM AI platform is for those people who want to really "get into it" and save or expand their work on a project (where the Gemini AI is mostly a "use & then loose" AI platform).

Whereas Gemini takes image pictures & text or voice commands as input, Google's NotebookLM AI platform takes MP4 videos or YouTube links as input in addition to text or voice commands.

Curiously, NotebookLM doesn't take standalone images as input. For NotebookLM to consider an image as input, the image must be part of a PDF or Google DOC or Slide.

Of note on uploading videos, Google mostly just transcribes the audio on the video and uses that transcription as input. This means if you upload a video with no audio, I don't believe NotebookLM will be able to tell you what's going on in the video because it doesn't literally "see" the video images.

NotebookLM is especially valuable for uploading lengthy flower demonstration videos with lots of audio commentary. To ensure you get the most from NotebookLM's analysis however be sure to create a document, PDF or slides with still images from the video that are clearly labeled so the AI can match the still images to the audio text to deliver the best AI analysis.

One fun & very interesting feature of NotebookLM is the "audio summary" where one can create an AI generated & customized audio podcast of their content.
